Reviews
The camp ground seems to offer lots of options. We were tent camping with no electricity. The owner was very nice and accommodating when we called and needed a quick spot for the night. The restrooms were clean and the wash station was very convenient. The location was great if you wanted access to the Neversink River. Some spots were river side. The road through the campground is gravel and steep which could be difficult for smaller cars to drive back and forth to the river (or lower spots).
The location was 5 stars. The reason for my 1 star rating is because of the lack of enforcement of the campground rules.
First is dogs not leashed. This is unacceptable. I don’t care if your dog is trained or family, it’s a dog and it ain’t my family and I don’t know if it’s trained. I don’t want to be around campers who let their dogs roam free and even playing fetch with their dogs. If your dog comes around me, sue me if you want but I’m protecting myself and my family, whatever it takes from your unleashed dog.
Second is music. Sick of it. Music playing all hours of the night with no regard for quiet hours. I’m camping trying to enjoy the sounds of nature, the fire and the river. I don’t want to here techo, bongos and thumping of other people’s music. As I’m writing this review, its almost midnight and they are still playing loud music. I can tolerate during the day, I get it, but if you can’t respect other campers, and the site doesn’t patrol and enforce, I will not be back and I cannot recommend.
Update your Google website pricing or quit ripping people off. Goggle business info says kids under 17 are FREE. Says wood is $7 a bundle but when I asked for 2 was told it was $16. This is a business, pricing needs to be accurate on ALL your online advertising.
Unfortunate, because it’s a great location.
I just camped here from 7/2-7/6/23 on site 41a with my soon to be wife. This place is a hidden gem. I had one of the most relaxing camping trips here. We started off our first full day with crazy storms but if you have the right equipment you’ll be fine. During these storms most of the other people camping left. This made for a truly private camping experience on a beautiful river. The scenery here makes for a picture perfect time.
For people looking to stay…the weather can change in an instant there so be prepared. One day we went from 60% humidity to 100% within a few minutes. Strong hard shelled water shoes is necessary to walk around the rivers edges. There is electric onsite(not all) but make sure you have something to store your electronics in with a seal and those humidity packets. I had a few things with connection problems because of the moisture.
Thank you again to the owners and we will be back real soon!
Great camping! I went with my 2 kids 4&7 and my friends snd their kids. We all had a wonderful time. The river was perfect for small kids to play in. The place was quite and simple. The owner and other staff was very nice. And very kind to the kids showing them cool stuff. The playground was just 2 swings some toddler toys and 2 swings but it was in a big feild and the kids had so much fun. The bathroom were super clean! And as a bunch of women alone with our kids we all felt super safe.
The price is definitely worth it
But it is a simple place there's none of the activities and extras you find at other campgrounds. The pool could use a little tlc. But it got us all back to the basics. And being in a nature and enjoy time with one another. It was one of the best camping trips I have been on!
Just got back from tent camping here and I could not be happier. This place reminds me of camping as a kid.... has some amenities but not too many that you don't feel like you're camping. My kids loved playing in the swimming pool and walking in the river. The staff was very friendly and kind. I will be back!
Been coming here for years so let’s get right into it.
I am a tenter so I can’t speak for the people with trailers but here it is.
Stay up top on the 300 level to tent on some grass, beautiful view of the moon when it’s out and have a view of the perfect time to get in the pool, see what activities may be going on organized by the campground and keep a short walking distance to the bathrooms with the hot water sinks/ showers… (all other bathrooms on the campground have cold water sinks and no showers and are a bit more sketchy) there is a rec hall where they may or may not have activities going on. Occasionally the campground owners may provide a complementary bonfire setup by them for all to enjoy in a big grass patch by in between the pool and the bathrooms (can’t miss it) usually there might be some kind of activity for the kids to participate in by the pool or the rec hall during holiday weekends or themed weekends (pay attention at check in and ask questions)
Stay on the 200 level to camp on grass but alot of tree roots. There is a big open grass patch for the kids to play, swings, some small play houses for very small children, a volleyball net and a bathroom with actual toilets but cold water sinks. ForJuly 4th weekend the 200 level is where the fireworks are (Book your site way in advance because I probably already took it) also there is a trail on the second level that is pretty easy to navigate to a nice section of the river that isn’t advertised.
Stay on the 100 level to camp down and dirty. There are sites along the river, sites along the creek/ridge also some sites in the middle of both. You are at the bottom of the treeline down there with plenty of shade and if it rains then plenty of big puddles on the roadway. Very few sites down there have electricity just an FYI. There are 2 bathrooms on the 100 level both cold water sinks, 1 has actual toilets (the one by the sites in the 40’s-50’s) the other bathroom is the one that is not gonna be the girl’s favorite place… it’s doable but is the only bathroom on the campground without actual toilets that flush and that is located in between the sites that are in the 60’s and the river sites that are in the teen’s.
Other than that the campground has dumpster’s on all 3 levels, plenty of sites with electricity/ water. There is a dollar general literally 5 minutes away, and right next door to that is “Odell’s” which is a gas station with plenty of items you may need. There is a flea market on the weekends right in the church parking lot by dollar general you may want to check out. Yes this is a campground but civilization is RIGHT THERE don’t panic people. “G mart” is the closest supermarket which is about an 18 minute drive, “stewarts” close by, there’s a super Walmart in Middletown NY which is about 25 minutes away, seriously don’t panic if you forget anything for camping.
Been coming here every Memorial Day weekend for 3 years and although there are beautiful scenic areas of this campground, its not worth it to me to be talked down to, belittled and disrespected by the owner. There are plenty of other campgrounds that are happy to have you and will treat you like family. Won’t be coming back here.
Edit: updated to one star (zero if I could) after receiving a response.
To the owner.. i Can’t believe that is your version of what happened. You’re delusional. I won’t take the time to argue, I know what happened. Good luck.
We spent a weekend there with family and friends in October, just before the campground close for the season.
If you like nature and to be surrounded by trees, you will like this place! …
